There is a fascination with watching colorful hot air balloons rising at sunrise in the Central Oregon sky with the backdrop of the Cascades and the high desert landscape. Starting this Friday, the annual Balloons Over Bend festival will run through Sunday offering daily sunrise launchings of the hot air balloons, Night Glow Friday evening in Bend and Saturday evening in Redmond, plus many fun activities for the whole family during the day. The planned schedule is as follows:
Friday July 28, 2023
Saturday July 29, 2023
It has been awhile since we last reported on Bend luxury home sales. We pulled a report showing year to date activity over the past three years. While Bend home prices in general are back to a small upward trajectory year over year, the numbers of sales are significantly down, as they are in all price points in most of the markets in Central Oregon and across the country. Higher interest rates have changed the buying power of would-be home purchasers, even in the high end, and have also kept many would-be sellers off market. It has been awhile since we last looked at the data for Redmond Oregon home sales. Redmond's housing has consistently been more affordable than that available in Bend with the majority of homes in the city what most would considered middle income suburban. The Covid-19 housing boom impacted Redmond as it did most of the country, and now rising interest rates, lack of inventory, and relatively high prices are creating a housing market in transition.
We looked at Redmond home sale for the first half of 2023. When the first six months of 2023 are compared with the first six months of 2022, the following changes can...
The 48th annual Sisters Quilt show, celebrated as the world's largest outdoor quilt show, was held last Saturday, July 8th. Quilts could be seen hanging from walls, porches, in windows, on fences and over balconies. It was estimated that over 1300 quilts were displayed throughout the town with over 10,000 visitors from all 50 states as well as some foreign countries. This year's theme was "Hidden Stories" and it was interesting to try to figure out the stories in these beautiful works of art.
